Hello! Welcome to the Compasses Zoo !
We animals have been drawn using only a compass... you won’t find a single straight line in us! We were drawn and coloured with two steel tools: a compass to create our outlines with only circles or parts of circles, and an airbrush, a sort of spray-gun, to fill us with colour and make us round and soft.
We were conceived by the Italian author and illustrator Daniele Nannini in a series of books first published in 1987: Animali Compassati (Compasses Zoo), A Notte Tonda (Round Midnight) and Circocircotondo (Circle Circus).
